This laptop just has a small 300mb recovery partition and a 99mb EFI partition, and it has no Dell stuff installed, and in the Add/Remove section it has the Intel graphics drivers and Card resder installed, no AV trial and no Office trial like dell says there is on these laptops.

Interesting thing, I installed an SSD and tried to install Win 7 from a USB stick, no go, tried with a UEFI boot stick, no go, enabled Legacy support, still no go, Bluescreen error saying the Dell laptop Bios is not fully ACPI compliant (no idea what this means) but it did suggest a Bios update, which i will do tomorrow, but i will just keep continue using win 8.1, and image that to an Intel 520 SSD and see if that boots up and see if the laptop performs faster.Īs far as the Celeron CPU goes, it is quite good, on par with most low end budget laptops, and there is no apparent slowness that i can notice so far, so it will definately be a decent notebook for basic use, and ideal for elderly and kids to work with for sure.

Bios is A00, new Bios available is A02 and needs to be updated via online Bios update utility in the Dell website. 7mm thin Hdd removes easily, has a mounting bracket that raises it to 9.5mm, so you can fit up to a 9.5mm hdd. The HDD and Ram cover on the bottom is a right pain to get off, 2 screws hold it on, but you almost have to force it open because it has huge lugs one one end and one side, making it difficult, and snapping it back in is almaost as bad.
